It’s a lose lose career path. Why would anyone want to stay?

The trouble is that uni’s aren’t preparing them properly so they have no idea what to expect and no resilience to stick it out.

It’s not even the pay. I would strongly argue that it is the class sizes. If there was a cap of 15 students per class the amount of stress having to cater to the wide range of needs would be significantly reduced.

What parents can do is discipline and put good values in their kids.. make them understand what a school is for and its not “you can do whatever you want as long as you’re safe”. Student behaviour really makes it difficult to actually do their jobs..

There is a teacher shortage if you live in Sydney and Rural NSW, if not it’s a struggle to get a temp/perm job in primary.

I’m studying teaching and I really think it should be a more place-based course to learn the profession while in the workplace and then go to uni once a week to learn theoretical things! Make it more like apprenticeships

Some parents are a problem and uni doesn’t prepare enough. We aren’t really taught HOW to teach. CRT is a great option and if you can land regular work with one or two schools you can build relationships. Also, way less stress and way more joy!

I've applied to study Bach Education many times and get rejected as a mature student. Also why there's a shortage I'd say..

Or the school hires teachers on contract that love their job but the SCHOOL dismisses the teachers when contract is up, despite teachers re applying for the job. But let’s keep pointing the wrong fingers.
