Ha! where the hell do you think they are at? They are being trained to be able to survive in combat! They picked the wrong branch of service! The title of Marine is earned!! Pride in being hard!

My Marine grew up with a Mexican Mom(Me) he’s used to being spoken to in a loud voice! He was also raised by a Marine Grandfather and Marine Uncle .. so, my Marine was just fine with being yelled at! It toughens them up, teaches them respect and responsibility and gives them life skills to survive in this world we all live in. (Just my POV)

I’m grateful for the intense training I got in bootcamp. Soft parenting can be a problem and I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for my time in the the Marine Corps

The recruits will hate their DIs, but the finished Marines will never forget and *always* look up to their DIs as their mentors and remember who they were and what influenced they had

I never joined but from all the tales I got from my dad and other military family members. Boot camp is extream on purpose. If you wash out while being trained, untimely that’s what is best for all

I have a lot of thoughts about how my son’s DI handled things in boot camp. I think there should be a short boot camp for parents. I do agree yelling doesn’t always work.

Ok the military boot camps job is to prepare civilians to perform in high stress situations once they are done. Not worry about feelings.

There is a reason for everything that we do in bootcamp. It’s just tough love and you will remember your DIs once you graduate bootcamp.

I never hated my Drill Instructors. 🙄 I do credit them for my succesful 30-year Marine Corps career. To this day - I’m good friends with my SDI.

Agree 💯 There's a big difference between coddling and caring about your recruits. Our DIs and DSs are training service members, not day care workers. They dont need to be *nice* they need to keep people alive, healthy, prepared. But what do I know - I'm just a mom 🤷‍♀️with a kid who knew his DS gave a shit about him *because* he screamed at him.

I deployed with one of mine. It was shortly after the USS Cole had been attacked and we were all standing watching in ports. He just randomly walked by. It was rad to see him and share a few words. I'm with Jonas' initial response.

I notice some of the homies I’ve spoken to that have been thru this process end up being extremely thankful for these people later in their career. They hate them in the moment FOR SURE tho lol I would too honestly. 💀 it’s not supposed to be easy.

Gentle parenting is the downfall of today’s generation of kids….. now these fools want to extend this into Boot Camp??

as someone that come from nothing with nothing still, treating people with care is so easy. its hard but you come out stronger through it. with more hope, passion. You give up thats on you because that individual will gain a more sound nervous system

why? so we can tell the other branches we got hugs and sleepy time? hell no! A lot of us go to boot camp, but because we need to find ourselves through adversity.

The training is there for a reason, when things dont work right, the DIs know, OK, we got to figure this out- then the counselor piece comes out. When the crucible comes then the mentor piece vomes out, everywhere in between- constantly demand from them maximum output. . NO QUARTER, NO REST...
