Let me tell you and advice for your next time in Cancún. DONT take taxi at the airport. There's a bus called ADO so you take one and it take you to the centro oficial the City. So, there you can take an Uber its gonna be pretty much cheaper for you

I’m an American and go to Cancun all the time. You need to book your transportation ahead of time. Cancun isn’t cheap, they have American stores like Walmart and you will pay American prices. A lot about it feels just like America. Unlike Mexico City it is extremely safe.
