@abc7chicago: Thirty miles outside of Chicago, you will find a mass grave of 41 bodies in simple, unmarked pine boxes. The victims were the poor, the elderly and those who lived alone. All of them were laid to rest at Homewood Memorial Garden Cemetery, with their remains unclaimed.

I was 18 & painting student apartments with no a/c. Our boss came around and filled the bathtubs with ice and giant water coolers so we could have a way to cool off. When it melted he gave us more.

This story really shows the importance of checking on our neighbors, especially during extreme weather. Rest in peace to those who were forgotten.

Ungodly oppressive heat and humidity. The dew points were consistently in the 70s. I drove past a bank at 11:00pm and their sign displayed the current temperature at 90 degrees! It was horrendous.😳

It’s still too expensive to have an A/C. Between the actual machine, installation fees, seasonal A/C fees of hundreds of dollars, ComEd rates increasing. ComEd has changed but what is the city doing to keep landlords from stacking on $$$?
