#Phainon /#Kevin — "why do birds fly?" i still can't believe Phainon is now canonically british... 😔 "Peace belonged to those who put an end to everything, not those who became the end itself." i can't be the only one thinking they fumbled with Phainon. i feel like the writers kinda assumed we all know abt Kevin so they didn't bother writing Phainon with more depth and we can see it with how ppl are reacting to "he had never loved himself, why would he love this world?". they think they understand Phainon but they really don't and i blame it all on the writers honestly 😭 the fact that we saw way more of "Phainon" than "Khaslana" might be the issue here. they should've added more "Khaslana" dialogues it honestly feels like the writers went to re-read all the Kevin dialogues before writing Phainon's arc and then made parallels between the two every chances they got. it's easier to make sense of everything while having ur Kevin lenses on rather than ur Phainon lenses on (if that makes sense) but anyways, let's talk abt the similarities between the two for a bit (cuz why not) "I never gave up because i never tried. I never cared about the honkai nor humanity. I just don't care" and i can already see ppl say it doesn't apply to Phainon but it really does. in fact rather than caring he simply couldn't give up, he never actually tried to save Amphoreus like... when did he ever try to think of a solution? even Anaxa called him out on that (i'd love to elaborate but the characters limit is a thing 😔) waiting for outsiders to get them out of their misery isn't a viable "plan". he accepted to go through all those cycles of suffering bc preventing the birth of irontomb was *enough* for him. he didn't go out of his way to save Amphoreus and it could've ended VERY badly (he should've never carried that burden in the first place but life is unfair 😭) Phainon and Kevin both dedicated themselves to a task that they hate, not for humanity, but bc that's the only thing they can do. meanwhile characters like Elysia, Kiana (and even Mei later on) *sincerely* wish to fight for humanity they (learned to) love humanity and that's THE difference between them and also why Kevin and Phainon hate themselves and can't see themselves as heroes let me remind y'all that the biggest hater of project stigma was Kevin himself 😭 he was condemning himself to eternal suffering with that project and it's kinda crazy that i see ppl say that he's EVIL??? 😭 project stigma svcks but it wasn't an evil plan?? the whole point is that characters like Hua CAN move on from the past and adapt to the new era while characters like Kevin (&Phainon) are stuck in the past and are not fit to be heroes of the new era. between losing to the honkai and actualizing project stigma, actualizing project stigma was the lesser evil and is not so bad as an alternative (i'd love to elaborate but ugh) part of the reason why Kevin couldn't let go of it is bc he believed humanity was doomed anyway, he didn't believe in the potential of the new era and wanted to be proven wrong through his demise (why do birds fly?) while i feel like the narrative does insist that Kevin is a hero regardless they're not giving that same energy for Phainon and it bothers me 😭 wdym "I will be the dawn of Amphoreus" HELL NO, TAKE THOSE WORDS OUT OF UR MOUTH TRAILBLAZER. idc that he's gone, why are we taking away the title of deliverer from him 😭 if i hear one character say "Deliverer" while talking to the TB in 3.5 i might go insane i wish i could yap more bc i barely scratched the surface here but i'm hitting the characters limit 😔 i thought i wouldn't post hsr content again but the Phainon hype got to me so i just had to do an edit of my own i'd like to end this caption by making a confession...
