Women in ag aren’t under pressure to prove themselves. If anything women get a pass and are told they’re brilliant at things even if they’re just competent, particularly in traditionally male dominated field. I think it’s great women work in these areas. They bring a skill set and an approach different to Matt.

I have a story of something that happened in school where we had to do a presentation on what are dream job is and I did mine on I want to be a farmer when I'm older and when I was walking back to my seat the teacher laughed under her breath and said under her breath aswell you'll never get anywhere with that job and you will not cop5

I'm 54 I started in agriculture when I was 16. Went to agricultural college and there was 45 men and 6 girls. I took 25 years out to raise my son alone and worked as a manager in a nightclub and retail. Then when he got his own life I went back to the job I loved (dairy herdsperson) it hasn't changed much women are still classed as less because we are just not as strong as men. I think women make better dairy farmers than men as we have more empathy. This is not me having a go at the men but I've found that they are surprised when I've asked to be taught how to use a Tele handler and bailer and I'm shit hot at scraping yards. My attention to detail just seems to be better than the men. My parlour is cleaner and my yards are pristine. Yes it takes me longer but if I do a job it has to be perfect. Not a quick scrape around the yard but making sure I hand scrape the edges to get as much shit as possible. The farm I work on 1 of the tractor driver's said the place has never looked so clean..I think I might have a hypo addiction 😂😂😂
