that sounds like you just defined a bone. I feel like "hard internal structure used specifically to anchor soft tissue and keep the body sturdy" is a stronger definition for bone than "but calcium". if that's our definition of bone, it's wrong

octopus still have a tiny remnant of their shell, called a stylets, they have a pair of them in the mantle, they are so thin and flexible that they do not impede their squish

I hate that so many people now take everything being said literally, we know it's not bone and made of plastic but to describe it to somebody who is cooking squid for the first time that description is accurate, it feels like plastic and it's the only rigid thing in the body and we associate that with bones.
