Look up autistic catatonia and see if symptoms match. It took 4 years of a nightmare to get a correct diagnosis of catatonia for my son. Screaming, self injury, bizarre uncontrollable behavior, attacking others. Sudden onset after infections. Typical psychiatric meds don’t work for catatonia.

I would definitely do heavy metal detox for a few weeks, alongside a parasite cleanse. Also look into a gut cleanse to do for 7 days .. looking into the holistic root everything takes around 8 weeks to work

Actual autistic person here. Plz don’t listen to half the nonsense in these comments. Treat your son AS an autistic person. He might not sleep because he’s over or under stimulated, try maybe some gentle stimulation before bed, like lights or sensory toys. Make sure where he sleeps is the right amount of stimulation. Give him options for his needs and see what he picks. If he’s non-verbal try an AAC device for a while so he can communicate, it’s been proven to help autistic children develop more verbal communication. Do not try and cure his autism, work with it, there is no cure, just work with him and how his brain works. “Curing” techniques will stress him out and just cause him to repress autistic behaviours leading to further stress

I am so confused. Autism is not diagnosed until age 10. You all need to comfort this child and quit holding him like that. He needs soft support instead of cold rejection.

Our eldest has autism with a PDA profile. Little one has ADHD. Hardest thing we have ever done in our lives is trying to understand or settle them when they have an episode. All I can say is you will get through this and I hope you grow stronger as a family. It will not always be this hard.

As someone who studies psychology, autism is the one neurological condition that is a mystery and is so vast. It is not genetic nor is it developed. The likely conclusion we’ve come to is food. Not what the child eats, but rather what the parents eat before conception. North America has the least restrictive food laws, but the highest rate of autism. There’s more autism now than there was 50 years ago due to the increase fast food consumption and the increase use of dyes, preservative, additives in food overall.
