when my dad had really bad gout (he was crying out in extreme pain, which he NEVER does) they said they couldn't do anything to help bc its caused by diet and the only way is to change ur diet and wait. I did my own research and gave him a diuretic and made him chug water to flush his kidneys at home and he was pain free and the swelling went down by the morning. he suffered for weeks before we went to the hospital, and got nothing. I figured it out on my own with no help in a few minutes thanks to google.

I'm so glad your grandma is out of the hospital, it's very fortunate and lucky that the solution you found was able to help her!However, if Google was always this reliable then doctors wouldn't have to dedicate 12+ years of their life to medical schooling. Accountability and advocation are essential in healthcare and I commend you for speaking up for your family member, but spreading mistrust in the people that serve us isn't the way to do that.

That’s awful! All it takes for a doctor is to say, “Thank you for your insight! We will look into her labs and see if this is a possible option.” Just acknowledging you did your work and that they’ll use their knowledge to get to the goal…
