@johnfilson: Before you decide what to think, just let it sit for a minute. What can we as white individuals do differently in small or not small ways to change this vibe? #greenscreen #belonging #america #blackandwhite @Desharri

Very likely on a different level, but white spaces are just uncomfortable. Even for other white people. If there is not POC in a spot I am very uncomfortable, and I am white.

Had a white coworker invited me and my daughter to her child’s birthday party. I was the only blk person there and I felt so unseen and ignored I had my friend fake an emergency so I had an excuse to leave before they even serve the food.

I’m invited to yt spaces often but on the majority of occasions there are yt people looking at me angrily about my being there. I stopped going unless I know everyone there.

My awesome black coworker once told me "Im not intimidating. It's just that your intimidated by me." Changed my outlook. Many times our perception based on past experiences, preconceived ideas, others influences are just that. A matter of perception

Yes most of my friends are white and I must say that outside of my close friend who I’m with they’re friends will sometimes say things that make you feel odd. Sometimes it’s a micro aggression, the whole “you speak well.” It always happens or there’s a look.

I feel like white people feel uncomfortable for a black person to be in their spaces because they have to watch that person. Then on the other hand they are alright for you to be there but uncomfortable but try to make small talk. I have been invited to white people's events but I could be the only black person there. Do white people have just one black friend or can only one black person come at a time?

I'm 59 and back in the day I felt comfortable around white folks, it was inclusive, but now I don't because something has shifted, we as black people have to keep our heads on a swivel, sad but true 😢
