I don't have gold and silver, but I like Pokémon. :³ So, mother Hekate gets my ghost Pokémon figures because they remind me of her.

Like Hermes IS a god of games and fun/joy and Athene of strategy so video games are easily a great devotional for both. I hate offering and devotional policing so nuch

To act as though these ancients that are far beyond us don’t also evolve and would welcome new kinds of devotional acts and offerings is BEYOND me.

I play Age of Mythology and Age of Empires as a devotional act to Ares and Athena haha it's cool; modern days require modern devotional acts and offerings 🥰

Also some deities accept self care as a devotional act. Sometimes self care is taking it easy and playing your favorite video game!

Honestly, there are at least a couple myths and traditions that also make a point of looking down on excessive value put on things like money and wealth.
The example you gave is a beautiful one. I know in my practice as a devotee of Dionysus, the myth of King Midas is fairly influencial one. And as a devotee of Apollo, particularly in relation to the philosophy cults, asceticism is a big part of that, so putting an overemphasis on worldly pleasures and goods, especially something like money is actively disrespectful.
It's all fine and good if people want to invest in expensive offerings, especially if those things are in relation to certain gods and their domains, but at the end of the day it's obvious your offering has a lot of thought in it too and I think that's just as if not more important than how expensive your gift is.
