my great aunt became type 2 diabetic from medication and she's never been overweight also I thought it was common knowledge that type 1 gets dx in childhood

I’m genuinely so tired of having to explain the differences or just diabetes in general. It’s not just the general public either uneducated/ignorant drs, nurses, and medical staff don’t understand even the basics of diabetes. If you don’t understand the entirety of something you want to discuss don’t discuss it until you do!!!!!!!!!! - sincerely a Type One Diabetic 💜

I’m plus size and the amount of people who just assume I did it to myself is wild. Like I’m a type one I was born with it they just didn’t find it til I was 17. My mom was a type one it was bound to happen to one of her kids

i worked in a field that helped manage diabetes and it surprises me what people don’t know about it. i literally just commented to someone that eating a sweet treat once isn’t going to give someone diabetes 🤦🏼♀️
