It's supposed to be based off the Kingdom Come Superman logo to my assumption to make it more alien looking. SPOILERS - I think it would've been much cooler if after he Learns that his Birth Parents are evil, he changes the logo to the classic red S we all know and love

I think it makes a lot more sense to not look like a normal s. Cuz why would it? A symbol from another planet wouldnt look like times new roman capital S lol. If you look at the new logo you can definitely see that the outline of the s shape is more bold and still very discernible as an S imo

Love the movie but some design choices for Superman specifically weren’t my favourite. The symbol, the little collar and the weird lines on his suit. Everyone else looks great, maybe woulda liked Guy and Hawkgirl to have their traditional costumes but their Mr Terrific inspired ones were still cool but superman’s suit just not ideal in my opinion.

To me, even though it doesn't look like an S, our brain still registers it as an S because of the familiar shape to the letter. and also because we automatically recognize it as the Superman logo.

Dan i love you, but the s isnt supposed to mean Superman. Its from his planet, and the symbol means hope. He wears it to signify that he is there to help and to honor where he came from. Im pretty sure its only a coincidence in universe it somewhat looks like an S. And i think he got the name Superman from people seeing the symbol and thinking its an S.

It's not supposed to be an S. it's the symbol of hope from his home world Krypton, and was interpreted as an S by others in his universe, even the name Superman was given to him by the people.

SPOILERS: i wonder if after the ending, Clark will take the crest and make it more human like an S. after everything that happened with his family, that would be cool if he humanizes the logo for his earth family
