I have a theory & I'm curious if it fits with the mythology: I think that Gwi-ma doesn't actually OWN any of the demons' souls like a traditional devil character would. Jinu says that their shame/guilt is how he "controls" them, and then at the end he "gets his soul back" & is able to give it to Rumi. What if all the demons (who used to be human) are actually trapping THEMSELVES? The whole movie they call the demon stripes "patterns," not marks or scars or a curse. I think that's symbolic, the demons are stuck in their patterns. Patterns of behavior, patterns of shame. It's only by breaking out of that, by ACCEPTING and then CHANGING their patterns can they free themselves

Are there any stories similar to Jinu's about literally selling one's soul for fame. As someone in America, Jinu's story reminds me of the fiddle player who sold his soul to the devil or Faust. KPop Demon Hunters also reminds me of Charlie Daniel's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." I'm curious if there's stories similar in Korean Mythology.

thats funny i was watching gentry chao vs the underworld and imagery reminded me of demon hunters so suprised to find out it was chinese. but the badguy mogui sounds very similar. being connected by land im guessing korea and chinese culture and language are rooted together
