@pbsnews: Arizona's governor is calling for a federal investigation into why a wildfire along the Grand Canyon was initially treated as a controlled burn and not immediately put out. As of Monday afternoon, the Dragon Bravo Fire had burned around 6,000 acres and was zero percent contained. It's burned some 80 structures, including the historic Grand Canyon Lodge. The blaze was ignited by lightning strikes on the Fourth of July and quickly grew amid hot and dry conditions, prompting officials to close the area to visitors for the rest of the year. #grandcanyon #grandcanyonfire #wildfire #wildfires #dragonbravofire #grandcanyonlodge #pbsnewshour
Yet the US can spend $450 million on a concetration camp in the Everglades.

we have nearly 300 park employees & their families that’ve evacuated into my town from these fires! they’ve lost everything! our city is clouded in smoke as the fires continue to grow! no gov’t assistance in Texas or Arizona! the only ones to help our people is members of the community!

Wow and why they haven't contained the fired. I feel sorry for our poor Grand Cayon, and poor people that live there and I wanted to stay there in the historic lounge. There goes our vacation to go back to the Grand Cayon

Don’t some fire depts let wildfires burn if conditions aren’t likely to make it rapidly spread (into populated areas) or cause major damage?

how do you have a controlled bur in, but in the same breath say that the fire started with a lightening strike 🤔

🙄 and there’s the problem. it closed the area to visitors for the rest of the year, so no more $$$$$. it was probably treated like a prescribed burn bc it’s part of the existing land management plan for that area. Can’t interrupt tourism though!

There are quite literally only two things that start fires in Arizona. Humans and lightning. We have historic evidence that ANY lightning-created fire in the last 20 years will be devastating. If this was lightning-caused, it should have been put out immediately.

How can a human call it something else vs Mother Nature. As if could seen over the world where humans flee to vacation to tourism places as Mother Nature is taken back.
