like yea fill joints but the ball in the middle is a huge problem. This weld would not pass xray at all. Nasa would never approve this

Without sounding like a FB armchair, don't use a ball bearing. Just bevel the ends, square them off, and fill it up. Introduce as little foreign material and porosity as possible
