@kaylanatalie_: I WISH patients did not have to advocate for themselves.. unfortunately they do just to be heard. So many physicians are not even explaining very simple risk vs benefits. @Noa Sterling, M.D., FACOG #doula #pregnancy #birthtok
"I hate when parents advocate for themselves" is all I need to hear BC what!!

Any medical professional telling you to not advocate for yourself is a red flag!

I just told a doctor off about this yesterday, to her face bc she said I shouldn't fear an induction bc my past deliveries "didn't go the way i wanted" ignoring all the issues drs caused me during my labor and deliveries including causing a hemmorage! 😒 The nurse behind her was silently cheering me on shaking her head yes as I went off.

That’s why you research for the right physician/midwife for you and your values. When I got pregnant I researched a lot and found the right one for me. I ended up with midwives 1 and a half hours away from me. And I had the best OB appointments and hospital experience I could have asked for. I understand that some may not have that advantage but research is key. Some mothers go in like a fireball and that won’t help either.

The very first OB I had wasn’t the one who got me through my entire pregnancy with P. She actually was leaving as I was looking into different doctors because she refused to give me nausea meds after vomiting for 20 weeks and losing about 25lbs total in the beginning of my pregnancy. The OB who finished out that pregnancy and got me through my entire pregnancy with Luka taught me it’s not hard to listen to patients. She listened to my every concern, offered me nausea meds the VERY FIRST visit I had with her, was gentle, advocated for me with my MFM, made sure my team with Luke’s birth knew my history and things I specifically asked her for, and now keeps up with said babies she helped me bring into this world, grow through Facebook! She knew my trauma, she knew how important my birth with Luka was and gave me the birth I needed to help heal me a little bit!

I couldn't advocate for myself bc I was out my mind with pain. I was physically incapable of it and just trying to get through it.

I ended up with Pre eclampsia and my ob refused to believe me. BP was in the 140-150 and I was super swollen but "thats normal" went to a different hospital to deliver and had to stay an additional 3 days cause of it and they diagnosed me with it.

a physician almost killed me and my son
me and my son had a bad reaction to pitocin told them beforehand that the women and my bloodline has a bad reaction to pitocin didn't want pitocin they gave it to me anyway and then raised it multiple times until finally my and my child's blood pressure went to zero and I was having non cranial seizures and which case it gave her the ample excuse to cut me open because that's what she wanted to do anyway
