There's a megachurch in Brazil called Reino (Kingdom) (also known as "We are Reino"), and they're an "elite church." I don't know if people had to pay for it directly or if they used tithes and offerings to do it, but they launched a massive movement for people who attend to get tattoos. Everyone was getting tattoos of the book of Matthew (I can't remember exactly which chapter and verse) and the reason was to remember the purpose of the gospel of Jesus. This church generates a lot of controversy because they always do things that are very outside the gospel, as if they were a company and not a church. And what they did generated a lot of controversy, not because of the tattoos, but because of the message they brought. Like, you don't need to mark your body to remember the purpose of the gospel. And people were rightly outraged, because it was a massive influence, it showed how easily people are manipulated and how easy it is to distort the gospel.

Lord i pray this scary prayer, that you would protect your children and keep them away from ANY church that isn’t built on you. May the find you wholeheartedly and true, even if it’s in there own car or bedroom away from any mega church with wrong intentions.

I will stand on my soap box and say that modern day evangelical churches are enterprises that monopolize the venerability in people who are spiritually scared and wondering. They use their money for useless things and exploit their people to go out into the world to make them afraid of it, leading them to lean on the church because it is “safe” against “worldly evil”

Being a real Christian is hard these days because alot of people parade the cross around and spread hate, and our communities are becoming corporatized. I dont think churches need to be dime a dozen but most mega churches lose the sense of community, king of the hill has a great episode on it

The mega church by me (James river) had a whole thing where they said that yoga was sinful and worshipped satan. Then the pastors wife came out with a Jesus yoga that was of god that was held in the attached full workout gym you could get memberships at
