oh!! im a receptionist at a hotel, have been for 7 almost 8 years, if an old lady says something completely off the wall and disrespectful im going to stare at her like she has less braincells than an ant. im not staring at people like that who are being respectful, im staring like that because if someone doesnt have basic respect for me why do i need to smile at them? im doing my job the same, being overly friendly isnt a requirement, helping them is. staring blankly at an old man who just yelled at me that im “just a receptionist how smart can you be”, because HE didnt understand something, is a lot better than me telling him fck himself and losing the money. it doesnt make me bad at my job, it makes me aware of my self worth and the lack of respect being given to me. just because im being paid to do something does not give anyone the right to be disrespectful.

i worked at dominos for like 3 years. It’s honestly not that bad the majority of the people you serve are nice if you’re nice to them, I don’t understand how this is hard to comprehend

As someone who has worked in the service industry for over a decade, I like to tell people that you have to imagine how stupid the average person is and then dumb it down by about 200% for most customers
