Hear me out- I think if Pierrot is typically used as a passive character indicating sadness/defeat about not being able to change things, that does also still make sense in the context of the MCR show. He’s mostly just watching/passive throughout the show- I think his literal role is to keep an eye on the boys for the Dictator and report back on their behavior, but maybe also is a character that knows he’s a part of something evil and can’t do anything to make a change. When the boys go too far, he’s tasked with killing G- an active move, yes, but something he again probably has no choice in, so he essentially chooses to not take action to refuse to participate in. And then, he does collapse to the ground, looking sad and defeated. Finally, he’s tasked with a s*icide b*mb mission to take out the audience who’ve been influenced against the Dictator by the boys. It’s devastating, but, he’s defeated- he can’t choose not to and he’s already stabbed their only hope. It’s so tragic that he can’t help but laugh. Dance. Go a little unhinged in his final moments. Because it’s tragically funny that he, a passive man who never took action, ends up having to take action that kills thousands.
