@worldanvil: 🪙 Money is just a story we all agree to believe in. In #worldbuilding that's a GREAT thing... because what your setting uses as currency is a fantastic "show don't tell" opportunity to convey a culture's values & resources. What's your favorite weird currency from books, TV and movies... or from your current work-in-progress or campaign? #fantasywriting #dungeonmastertips #worldbuildingideas #inspiration#worldbuildingtok #worldbuildingadvice #worldbuildingtips
In the Yap islands, when the stone coins were used, the more people who died moving the coin from one location to another, the more valuable it became. Just some additional info. 😁

In Dragonlance gold is almost useless, so they use steel coins. It doesn't add much, but it's unique.

Gami Games :
I just spend 8 hours yesterday working on my world’s currency. My coins are minted with animal heads on them and worth the typical price people would pay to capture or slay them. This applies to monsters as well but only those coins are more valuable with beholders, lich, and dragons as the most valuable coins in my setting. And a “rat” is worth like $10 but it allows for me to to “I’ll pay you a infestation of rats for that sword you have there”
