I’m struggling to understand how someone can go to jail because a child tragically died under their watch, despite having no direct role in the child’s death while another person, the father from 8 Passengers to be exact, who knowingly allowed years of abuse and did nothing to stop it, walks free. It feels like justice is being applied inconsistently. One moment of tragedy can ruin an innocent person’s life, but a pattern of willful neglect and enabling abuse gets overlooked? Make it make sense.

If they’re pressing charges that’s bc there’s evidence we don’t know about. Prosecutors don’t just press charges w/o proof. Hence Emily tried to fight to keep those records sealed.

People are ignoring key facts: 1. He admitted he was out there alone. 2. If they’re pushing charges, there’s likely video or evidence we haven’t seen. probably why she wanted the records sealed. 3. In most drownings, bodies sink. He was floating, which means it was likely longer than 3 minutes.

I think “had the parent been watching him” is not fair, kids get out of sight, things happen. It’s the lack of preventable measures taken that is neglectful IMO

Car seats are also a law, if a parent drove with a child just riding in a seat and it was thrown from the car, charges would be expected for negligence. Same here, the fence was a law, they didn’t have one and their child died due to negligence.

It’s a law to have a pool fence in AZ and they did not. He also acknowledged that he knew trigg was playing by the pool alone. feelings and sympathy aside, his son’s death was avoidable.
