People do not realize how powerful imagination and storytelling is. They rewrite history for a reason. Attention is currency for a reason. They found the power system but can’t activate it, because you need access to your conscious. Just like abusers know how to use story to get what they needed and want. The collective needs to know they are in an abusive relationship with this society and figure out what family role they are playing. Scapegoat can’t help you if you benefit from proximity to the abuser.

the shift back to so many folks saying "it's the internet, what do you expect?" "it's not that deep" & similar over the last two years back to mainstream usage has been extremely disheartening. but folks don't want to understand that the language of pop culture so so so largely contributes to & helps build our shared reality & social contract 🥲

This makes a lot of sense. All these memes about Trump made him somewhat.. “relatable”. A lot of people, younger folks specifically, didn’t vote because they agreed with his policies but because they found him funny & relatable.

yes and yes and yes and thank god for your voice. we need to be much more strict on rejecting authoritarianism & capitalism down to the root. we can’t be dragging our feet neither because the climate crisis will be society collapsing within our lifetimes unless we start acting 20 years ago. there really is nothing left to lose. the choice of these times is to risk your life in hope for the future or be complacent and passively feed the demise of yourself and everything around you.

EXACTLY. I grew up in the right. I grew up in evangelical Christianity - they establish a culture that pulls you in and keeps you there because you’re afraid to leave but also you feel important. If we’re not interested in honoring each other’s existence and realizing that people are important simply because they exist and honoring that in community with one another like nothing’s gonna change.

Around last year I started feeling “off” whenever people would kiki and go “Trump sucks but dam is he a good poster” referencing how unhinged he is on the internet and how “funny” it is. Prior to last year, I was ambivalent to takes like that but when it was very real that he was a problem that won’t just “go away” I felt like “why are we joking about a known influential bigot being unhinged in public spaces where he has real effects on society?” So this is something I’ve been trying to unpack and assess for a bit.
