We (as the person posting this) have heard first hand from someone who saw a lake larger than expected something while kayaking a very long stretch of shoreline. And that person had never lied about anything we could fact check before. He was entirely convinced. There was an article in the Great Lakes Pilot a few months after that that matched his description surprisingly closely. Will see if we can dig it up.
There was also a Murdoch Mysteries (Canada TV) episode about a Lake Ontario monster. We'll avoid spoilers, it's a fun watch.
