This is a (in-game) trauma response 😂 - They know the more mundane an item is, the more of a danger it is. They've been hurt in the past.

1st door: trapped. sets off fireball in front of it. 2nd door: trapped. sets off fireball in front of it. 3rd door: no way! it's trapped. sets off fireball in front of it. 4th door: you guessed it. trapped. sets off fireball at the other end of the hallway. guess which door they finally decided to use magic to open while standing at the other end of the hallway.

During my description of a room I apparently accidentally put a little too much description into a painting... It was just a painting. They checked for traps, every single pc investigated, they took it off the wall and investigated the wall behind it... And I was laughing so hard which probs didn't help 😂
