I disagree. YES, some of us want to support our parents in the future. But “Failure of Responsibility,“ can we talk about the failure of accountability? The government’s responsibility is to ensure the integrity and security of the public—ensuring the care needed by the elderly as well as the young generation. A child isn’t accountable for their parents neglect of taking responsibility for their future as well. A child is not born into the world as a retirement plan to begin with. Why not propose a bill about the qualifications of bearing a child? The government doesn’t have to take care of the retirement plans of older folks and fill a ridiculous bill to law if they were qualified enough to bear a child in the first place. Why file for bills like this when the government’s system says otherwise? - can’t even take care of a livable situation for Filipinos without corrupted laws like this. Why push laws like this if you can’t even guarantee to take accountability for providing basic services, healthcare, education, and more? There must be another alternative solution. Filing a bill that most people can’t even afford to bear is not the answer to situations where you clearly failed to take responsibility to begin with.

The Parents Welfare Act has nothing to do with 'Parents Welfare'. its only a legal maneuver so that the government can avoid providing financial aid or support for the needs of aging citizens and let their children carry that liability. Looks like Lacson are just making "legal" ways to avoid making a run for his money.

It's actually heart-breaking. We are thriving at our own and trying to survice adulthood then this?! I wouldn't mind supporting my parents until I have my own family? How about that? It should be voluntary and we, do not need that law. We voluntarily support our parents.

Sabi pa niya "Abuse, abandonment or neglect by parents of their children are exempting circumstances.
