The problem is most districts don’t have systems and processes in place, so they can’t train/support on what they don’t have in place. We definitely need to do some process mapping in education.

School Districts do not hire Human Resources professionals or people that actually study onboarding and training. HR is where they send ineffective admin that MIGHT happen to have an MBA 😂

I moved from K-12 to Higher Education and they have true onboarding. I was on a 90 day probation period. During that period I was trained on my job: ex. how to use Banner, process for purchasing etc. it was very helpful 🧡

It’s absolute trash. About to start year 19, and I try my best to check on new teachers b/c if their teammates don’t remember to tell them, they don’t know! It’s hard.

Facts! Dude some schools have a good set up with onboarding. I just left a school that was a hot mess. No onboarding. Didn’t know how to use their platform. Instructions were no where on papers I received weekly.

When I transferred districts I sat waiting for my substitute for my IEP meeting which was automatically assigned when we had one in my old district, in my new district we needed to ask our paraeducator. We also got a new grading system-most of the PD presenters said you’ll learn more later… we never did😂
