Observation can encompass more than just human vision. Sensors for one act as observers in experiments like the observed single photon double slit experiment. The principle is that the act of measurement changes the state of what is measured.

It’s key to understand what something being observed means here. No humans do not control reality, things exist without humans interacting with them. Unfortunately I haven’t taken quantum physics yet so I can’t entirely explain what an observation and measurement fundamentally is but any interaction between quantum particles and another form of matter to my knowledge counts as some measurement. So no you can’t just stop looking at things to make them go away
