Yes, the three main monotheist religions are just the results of the long transition into patriarchy that occurred a little bit earlier. Patriarchy is quite a fresh and new CULTURAL phenomenon. Men have been trying really hard justify women domination ever since either through religion or through biologization of the social (which is still going on today, without men ever questioning it)

Let start with God created man first, He didn’t have to He chose to create Adam first. 2nd, before God freed Israel from Egypt, which they were slaves in for approximately 400 years, they were culturally conditioned to accept women, priests, women deities, and a woman Pharaoh during their time in Egypt. After God freed Israel, He told them the following Leviticus 18:3 “You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.” So God gives them customs and laws to follow, one of those customs was the priesthood. Exodus 30:30 Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them so they may serve me as priests. Aaron had daughters but God instructed Moses to make only Aaron and his sons priest. This had nothing to with sexism because of their 400 years of conditioning in Egypt they would have accepted women priest, but God chose a different way. Keep in mind the leadership had Moses (overall leader), Aaron (high priest) and Miriam (prophetess). All three had very important roles that were different but just as important. Point 3. Jesus showed up on the seeing and he’s turning the Jewish religious culture upside down. He’s reveals their man-made teachings or corruption of Sabbath observance, He deals with their bigotry and mistreatment of others. He even deals with divorce and the corruption that they brought to the temple. If there was a time for God to straighten them out about women leadership, it would have been then but instead, Jesus chose men to be His disciples. The culture that some seem to complain about, was established by God Himself. By the way, Deborah was judge of all Israel and the men followed her into war! She was a war hero!

If you can determine cultural context influenced what lens is presented how do you determine any of it isn’t cultural just context, cultures giving more credit to their practices by writing thst they’re god ordained? Like perhaps a society that obtained land by conquest would write stories reflecting conquests are ordained by god. Or societies engaged in slave practices where certain groups could be indentured servants while others could be slaves, what if a society who engaged in these ideas wrote stories to reflect that these practices are ordained by god? How do you reconcile these ideas, whether or not it’s more of writing narratives that benefit certain groups while harming others?

Well... if we take a look back in the day when the religions were being created ( cause we did create the religion itself whether we created God is up for debate I suppose) who were the leaders? Who was in power? Most ( if not all the time) religious leadership went to the second born son in noble families.... basically if we were still in that system Prince Harry would be in the church leadership- not because he is more holy or believes it more or is more intelligent but by birth-- cause they couldn't let the second born son just be worthless

Christians cling to the words of Paul and ignore the words of Jesus. Everything Paul wrote was a letter written to specific people in a specific time in history…imo none of his writings should be considered and never should have been included in scripture. None of those people or places exist anymore, those letters should have died with those societies.

Thank you for bringing up this important topic. Since patriarchy emerged during the Neolithic period, approximately 6,000 to 10,000 years ago, it predates the formation of most major religions and philosophical systems. As humans shifted from egalitarian hunter-gatherer groups to settled agricultural societies, new social structures formed around property, inheritance, and male-dominated labor divisions. These changes laid the foundation for patriarchal systems. By the time figures like Aristotle, who lived from 384 to 322 BCE, and Jesus of Nazareth, who lived around 4 BCE to 30 CE, were active, patriarchy had already been deeply entrenched for thousands of years. Rather than originating patriarchy, religion and philosophy often absorbed and institutionalized it, embedding male dominance into moral, legal, and cosmological frameworks. Understanding this long history reminds us that patriarchy is not natural or eternal. It was created, and it can be dismantled. It is women’s responsibility, alongside allies, to lead the way in educating others and transforming social structures into more egalitarian systems that serve everyone, not just the powerful few. 💜💪
