get thicker skin every tattoo is gonna look like shit on the thin stuff, always 4mm or thicker. also invest in good ink, the bad stuff is gonna clog up more and make it harder (:

Get an apprenticeship when u turn 18… until then, use your time to build up a solid portfolio of your art. Don’t teach yourself bad habits they’ll be a lot harder to unlearn later down the line !

don't practice on flat surfaces...I've recently started apprenticeship and that's one tip I got. try using like a paper towel roll to place your skin over that way you'll get used to the bends and curves of the arms or legs

Hey! I’m an apprentice, and you’re doing something I did when I first began, which was use my wrist. Try to pull lines with your elbow instead, if that makes sense, and anchor your arm to your side.

from the hate most people get from posting work, just wear gloves and get used to working with them on and practicing safe behaviors.

Not a professional, but I know one and he told me to do murals and actual images instead of a bunch of lines and practice lines and stuff like that

Wear gloves even if you’re not tattooing skin, building good habits in the beginning go a long way 😊🙌

Try making an apprenticeship portfolio so you can learn under professionals. Then by the time you’re 18 you’ll have a completed portfolio ready to take into shops

I honestly started getting more traction when I started practicing shapes!!! do you have a stencil machine yet? I would draw some super simple designs and try to get the hang of that as well(:

I’m not being rude in anyway. But drawing is the first step and will greatly improve your line work a lot faster than fake skin

just a heads up when the time comes , maybe you’ve already tattooed a person , I DONT KNOW. but real skin is a big difference and much easier to set ink into the skin

you need to practice the same way you actually do tattoos or else you'll build bad habits. If you don't understand what this means, get an apprenticeship. Mentors hate having to undo bad habits of some self taught scratcher.

Spend the money on a better kit if you want to do it seriously, wormholes are cheap and good to start and practice, but I'd suggest spending 1-200$ on one. It makes a world of difference. Play with voltage until you find the right voltage for your hand speed, do flash tattoos!
