I had a patient tell me that I took such good care of them, it lessened the burden of the recent death of their son and I got my first little pin with a daisy on it; my coworker who never answers her call lights has a half dozen of them.

It’s feels disingenuous. It’s more valuable if a patient seeks out a daisy award pamphlet on their own instead of being bribed.

When I asked for all my nurses to write their names down especially my er nurse and he looked at me weird 😅😅I made sure I especially nominated him cause he is what made my er visit so much better cause I was extremely scared

I hand them out for other nurses on my unit when I hear families compliment them — everyone deserves some praise and then nobody feels weird about asking for it to be filled out!

These used to be for “going above and beyond”. Not for simply doing your job, doing well at your job, or by being nice. When I see these young nurses with multiple emblems, I low key cringe as does all the seasoned nurses.

People ask me for the daisy award paper to write me one. I’ve never asked them to or did any of this. Even some of the other departments write me daisy awards
