The quality of RTW, footwear and costume Jewelry have indeed improved over the years. But the bags and SLG’s craftsmanship has really gone downhill. Anything that used to look rich and buttery 20 years ago now look plasticky and counterfeited

Agree wirh Joanne. The RTW/shoes/belts/accessories are prettier than before but much more expensive. The bags are prettier too BUT the 18k gold plated chains before are better (the chains themselves)

I agree that some of the quality has gone up, but some of the quality has gone down dramatically. I was in Chanel in Houston around a year ago and I was looking at a couple of bags where the gold hardware at the top was already tarnishing and I could see the silver coming through it. It was so bad I actually called my husband over to come take a look. These bags in particular were well over $6000.

one could argue quality is tied to price. for the money it is no longer worthwhile. they have undergone exponential price increases and quality has improved marginally— if not decreased.

No, it’s not. I was in the boutique and unimpressed with the quality. A popped stitch and crooked flaps, for that price no thanks, took my money to Hermes

I agree with your mom! I think people are mostly mad at Chanel because of the price, not necessarily the quality. I own many bags and they are all wonderfully well crafted. Same for the rtw I own. I love their shoes too, they are the most comfortable for me also.

Never disagree with you beautiful ladies! But the attention to detail and the quality of the leather is lesser! Older pieces are crafted with care! Newer pieces are mass produced!
