Your excitement makes it sound like you had a great time. Sucks that they didn’t explain the second heat was just the slack and not exactly setup like the main heat. You live, you learn, and you get back on that horse next week and do it again but with that first experience already under your belt! Keep on keepin on!

Yeah, what you experienced is called the slack. Sometimes it will even happen with bull riders if they have too many registered.. And you probably could’ve asked for a restart where they messed you up. But it sounds like you had a great run. Congratulations.

The bulls are the show, to save time especially if there’s a ton of horses they run 12 and everyone one else is in the slack.

Seriously? It doesn’t take long for one runner, 12 doesn’t seem to take very long, barrels are already set up. Doesn’t make sense to me.

yes, rodeos only put 10-12 contestants in the actual performance. They have to do that to keep the rodeo to around a 2hr minimum. They ones that run after the rodeo is called slack. Every rodeo has slack.

Maybe they weren’t expecting so many participants in the barrel racing. Maybe they had a limited because of other events.
