They are demanding $7000, plus 1% of their salary. (All the Tax responsibilities, contributions and more.) that’s a slap on their face. Literally telling them you are less than the rest of us. (Sub human) I’ll take your money but won’t give you any of the benefits that the rest of us get for doing the same. That’s modern slavering. What else do they want? A pound of flesh? Are they not entertained with all the cruelty and racism out there against the Hispanic community.?

Well said, a lot of people are praising the bill as a good thing. No, it's a terrible bill. They're looping people into the limbo DACA recipients have had to deal with for the past 10+ years with worse conditions and fees. DACA doesn't have it much better either.

It’s better than nothing I guess. But it still trash. It’s almost as if they just want money. If they want money to have a program to give them a pathway then that’s different. But this is not going to lead to any citizenship.

I mean people who came illegally probably paid a coyote to come and that’s thousands. They will do this if it means they can work LEGALLY and travel back home to see their family. So many undocumented people don’t care about becoming citizens. They just want to be able to work and travel.

Look up Black Codes. This is a play by play of what was done after reconstruction. I will definitely keep my eye on this bill; racism has a sneaky way of changing its form.

Not an ideal solution by any means — and critique it all you want — but are you an undocumented person who can’t even go home to bury your family? Are you living in the shadows, shackled to a country you now call home, even as it continues to reject you? A country that won’t acknowledge your contributions, despite the fact that they’re part of the very backbone it stands on? One that still, even in its cruelty, has given you more opportunity to build a life than your birthplace could?
We can analyze the history and context of the US’s role in the crisis in our home countries, and debate what kind of solution we should have. But the reality is for many of us, the people eligible for this Act — we’d take crumbs over nothing.

DACA wasn’t perfect either. We still don’t qualify for any federal stuff, but this is a start. Majority of our raza already has kids, this could be temporary while their kids reach 21 and then apply for citizenship. Majority of our raza also owns homes what’s $1-$2k a year to FINALLY be able to go back and see family. We’ve already lost the chance to go back and see grandparents, uncles, aunts that have passed because we’re stuck in a golden cage.
