4 reps would build blocky muscles so you did more reps to tone the muscle 💪

because the output force of both limbs working at the same time is less then the combined force of each limb working seperately. Now,this begs the question, why dont we just do every single exercise single handedly, the asnwer is fatige. So MUR is higher when working each limb seperately, but so is the fatigue,so when we want less fatigue but still good MUR,we do both hands, when we want as much MUR as possible without caring about fatigue,we do limbs seperately

Bilateral movements recruit same amounts of MUR but split into more muscles, unilaterals recruit all ur motor units to ur targeted muscles too but here ur using less muscle fibers than u were in the bilateral sets aiding to more reps ( they have their benefits but have cons too like cns fatigue or intra workout fatigue)

It is the CORE fatigue, you take some effort away from doing it with one arm, the strength you apply with your hand to hold yourself will be directly applied to let “free” the other side of the body to use more strength

Your perception of effort lowered when doing them with just one arm

Does bilateral force deficit affect the legs (esp. quads) in the same way? When doing unilateral leg press or unilateral leg extensions i do less than half the weight as i do on bilateral. Is this just a thing about stabilization and therefore less force generation?
