Worbla is expensive and can be difficult to work with, which is why I think most have switched to using mostly foam. someone also mentioned how it can become brittle over time

downside of using so much Worbla is the price 😭

The reason worbla fell out of favor is not quality or ease of use, it's price, this feels unecessatily costly with minimal benefits.

Worbla is expensive, degrades quickly and is not available in most countries. There's a reason it was left behind

I have been sitting on rolls of worbla and wonderflex (I'm old) for years. This is a great use for them!! Love that seams won't be a huge concern on the inside too

the problem with worbla is that after a few years it's becoming more fragile, prone to break making it less durable than foam

LinLinChups :
Have used this method a couple of times because I love how it looks and for its durability 🧡 However, I have the worbla coming loose on the edges quickly over time, even with contact cement. Have you run into this problem as well? And if so, do you perhaps have any tips for this? :) I try to heatshape the foam as well so there's less stress on the worbla, but it still happens unfortunately

Crimson Camelia :
the reason most cosplayers are using only the foam is because we don't have money to spend in worbla. It's already a pretty expensive hobby and most of us cannot monetize it. I haven't made a cosplay in 2 years because I'm working 10h a day and I can barely afford rent.

I mean, you could take a mixed route and just line the major pieces of your armor. Any small parts can still just be foam.

Worbla. Is kinda expensive Especially in my country, eva foam is more worthy, but yet i still. Want to try and use it someday hahah

Cool, cool... Only a big roll of EVA costs 25€, and the same amount of worbla costs 70-80€. I can't say the benefits outweigh the price difference💀

Dont use worbla bc its extremely expensive and heavier. Use cloth and high density foam. Your wallet and your cosplay will thank you later

I still prefer the worbla sandwich method. I don’t make big armor builds, but for props and small pieces I find it works well for my purposes
