@blitzphd: #stitch with @ctecburn Isn't it a great feeling when you stumble upon something a smart person thought of? By the way for some reason I can't tag the video, so just search for my account name and #olbersparadox and you should find it. #physics #space #debunked

Also, the universe might be infinite, but it might fail to be homogeneous in the really large scale.

And how much energy would be required to send a signal, even from nearby galaxy, such that we could detect the signal?

I think people make the mistake of thinking infinite size means infinite possibilities, but as far as we know the entire universe is still dictated by the same fundamental principles.

The real reason the universe can’t be infinite is that infinity is a semantic construct, not a physical observable

If something moves slower than the expansion then you will eventually be able to reach the target. Look at the ant crossing the rubber band bridge analogy.

Earth is only 4 billion years old meaning systems 4 billion light years away are seeing it for the first time. 4 billion light years is not very far away

Can't a super intelligent life in an infinite universe start near the beginning of the universe, giving them time. Why can't they have tech that operates outside of our limits or understanding. Expanding to our observations, maybe it's not expanding elsware. This thought experiment is limited to what science says today.

I love astronomy but the sheer size/expansion of the universe and knowing I or we as a species will never get to see or interact with certain parts is depressing 😔

I don’t believe in infinity, except as a mathematical concept. Finite matter, finite energy finite but expanding space.

I disagree with the first point, in an infinite universe all possible configurations of matter must exist, including super intelligent aliens

is it far-fetched to think that a super advanced species has possibly found a way to communicate that does not rely on the speed of light? I ask being that we theorize the alcubeir (spell check) drive could bend space time for a ship of ours. could the bending of space time be possible for sending signals, and could a super advanced species have access to this knowledge?

So then technically space is not infinite due to the universes continual expansion. Kind of what he is saying no? Like everything you said is obviously correct but technically his statement agrees with you. Space is not infinite because it is still currently expanding therefore there is an amount of space higher than the current amount that it has expanded to? Does that mean space is technically finite but expanding?
