FYI, visual artists often get stuck in pay to play galleries, called vanity galleries, where you pay a monthly fee for wall space, AND you pay a commission on sold artwork.

Radio is a great support for singers, and people listen to it a lot. But it should be easier and not so expensive... I think it's very unfair. Your music should be heard in every home!!!

Pay to play has been around since the beginning of rock music. The payola scandal was for those disc jockeys accepting bribes to play your records. Paying for shows with named artists became popular in the 90’s. Now they take a deeper cut of the artist royalties. It cost money to be a local artist.
