Go Follow on Insta @dannybones64 @transparentclinchgallery Here are some of Danny’s memories from this shoot when he was interviewed by Billboard magazine in 2014 for Illmatic’s 20th anniversary. “Nas was a poet. He was wise beyond his years. At the time, hip-hop was about representing where you were from and telling stories of how you grew up and became you. And, that’s what he did. That’s what made Illmatic’ so special. I captured him looking back at me guiding me (pic 5). He took me for a walk around his neighborhood, and I shot some [photos] of him from the back. Behind him (pic 7) was the building that he grew up in which is why we chose to shoot him in front of it. I thought it’d be cool to have him standing to see the entire outfit he was wearing. I wanted a range of options so I shot him sitting down as well.” - Danny Clinch Having captured some of these images years ago, I felt obligated to go back recently and redo them better (as well as capturing video).
