A French person told me our Quebecois French is “L’histoire”; historical. I still envy those from French Canada who can get by easily in France with their French skills while the rest of us in the other provinces with grade 4+ French can’t say much in French beyond “Bonjour, comma ce va?”

Everyone saying this is how Quebec treats the rest of Canada is incorrect - for the most part, quebecois don’t even try to speak English to non French speakers. In fact, they get annoyed that you don’t speak French. This server was actually very nice lol.

I’m French Canadian. French is first language. I had a coworker from Mauritius who told me that my French is not right and I should speak proper French. I told him “yeah, I speak French Canadian, you speak French Mauritius, completely different”. He reported me to HR because I told him off.
