Um,excuse me, Let's not skip over the mass slaughter of sharks because of this movie. That is what lead Peter Benchley into shark conservation saying he regretted making the movie. But it did eventually lead to shark studies and conservation.

If I remember correctly. After the movie there was big turn all sharks to star dust. people went nuts on shark’s. Then the writer became a big defendant of sharks.
