@thedizzycook: I thought my exhaustion was normal for a postpartum mom with two young kids. Every day I felt like I needed a nap. Before my period I would get bad anxiety, headaches, migraine symptoms and even heart palpitations. It took me almost a year to figure out why. The lab range said my ferritin was "normal" when I was around 12ng/ml. My general doctor said it was fine - just take supplements. And the amazing hematologist I finally saw? She said it was clear iron deficiency with anemia and didn't know how I was able to function. The only reason I even knew to check for ferritin was because my dietitian requested it on my labs, and my OB gave me a referral to a hematologist when I told her I thought it was hormonal. My hematologist then told me that optimal levels are above 100ng/ml (but not too high) and anything below 30ng/ml is absolute iron deficiency, even if your hemoglobin is normal (mine was also a little low because doctors hadn't addressed this for me for years and I simply didn't know to ask). Obviously I had vestibular migraine before all this so l'm not saying this is the cause, but after talking with many friends here who are also low I absolutely think low ferritin plays a part in a migraine diagnosis (and generally can make symptoms worse). It should be just as important to check as b vitamins and vit d. This was me 3 months ago 😓 the dizziness, fatigue, brain fog and my hair falling out. Did a private blood test and my iron levels and ferritin were so low! Started taking a 20mg iron tablets with vitamins C powder drink (helps to absorb better) and my symptoms have improved a lot!

Mine is 26 and that’s the highest it’s ever been(lowest was 6). My haemoglobin is now 126g/l again the highest it has been(lowest 65) so maybe I have a false sense of security around it and could use some more iron

I’m paying out of pocket for my doc. Ferritin between 4/5. Tried infusions. Body isn’t holding them now he is investigating the root cause. Grateful.

I currently have a level of 12 whilst on iron tablets and have every symptom going however the nurse Iv just spoken to said my symptoms wouldn’t be caused by my ferritin being this low and an infusion wouldn’t help!! I feel awful

Hey, so my ferritin is low but my iron is normal. My doctor told me this shouldn’t be causing symptoms and I do not need to supplement. What are your iron levels ?

I wish the infusion was an option, here it's so difficult to get it unless your willing to pay a lot of money. 😅 I had my ferritin almost empty and hemoglobin slightly under recommended but no infusion, just had to eat iron.
