God only pours into a yielded vessel. You’re absolutely right, we must be ready to sacrifice worldly lusts and the desires of the flesh. It’s a real sacrifice. Jesus already told us in Luke 9:23 Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Me. If you want God to use you as His vessel, you must be willing to say no to the flesh, resist temptation, and endure whatever comes with obedience. It’s not always easy, but it is always worth it when we follow the teachings of Jesus and let the Holy Spirit lead us.
