on board with you. I retire this year at 37. She will retire in 6 yrs at 38. The kids may have to deal with the moving around and one of the parents gone sometimes. But we priorities making the harder times a learning experience for them rather than a traumatic one. They always have everything they could ever need, post HS education covered under my Purple Heart benefits, and the peace of mind that they will NEVER have to take care of mom and dad when we get old. Her and I both have broken the generational curse of poverty while setting the stage for the kids to have the option, tools, and resources of success in the way they choose to be successful. Sometime ppl are too focused on the trees and miss the entire forest. It's all about balance of preparation and enjoying the moment. Let ppl judge. Then in a few short years, sit back in your beach chair with your mojito at 43 and smile, knowing that tomorrow, your are waking up for yourself, not to punch a time clock somewhere else. Unlike 90% of your peers.

Yes, but by the time you retire she's already grown, gone and the suffering is over regardless.
