@heathandsea: Pottery 🤝 sourdough baking a few years ago I was big into making sourdough bread. I used to bake a loaf every few days. I kept my starter alive for 4 years, then I had a sudden and unexpectedly long hospital stay when my son was born - and the starter died 🫠 I was lucky enough to be gifted a new sourdough starter from Astrid's Petite Cuisine just recently to try out the obvara technique - I love how the pots came out! and as an added bonus, I'm back to sourdough baking again 🍞✨ #obvara #raku #rakupottery #ceramics #sourdough
would it be possible to glaze them with sourdough first, and then with a more traditional clear glaze over it?

Imagine floating hair on the surface of the starter before the dunk, so it gets pressed to the pot first and adds lines!

If doing this on a larger piece…. HIGHLY recommend using a raku clay rather than garden variety stoneware. The thermal shock seems to be much greater than regular raku and you will get you heart broke when it cracks into pieces (guess how I know 🤪😩)
