@mrs_homemaker: While I agree the stare is annoying 👁️👄👁️ and it's creating actual issues in the work place and schools, we have to look deeper. For these 16+ year old Gen Z kids it's going to be a rough road ahead as they learn to navigate the world....or not. Because the world can't go back and teach them the "soft skills" of how to interact at a basic level. These are skills that are supposed to be taught in childhood (long before covid would have messed up their routine). But our Gen Alpha kids have a fighting chance if we take the measures necessary to go back to a biological norm for childhood. Kids need risk, and they need protection. They need far less protection in the physical world than they are being given and way MORE protection in the online world, where they have been allowed to interact daily since their earliest years. Digital childhood is reshaping their brains on the level of emotional regulation and basic logistical skills. It really is that serious to have an "iPad kid" or a child on social media before late teen years. Smart phones are far more dangerous than we realize. Our school did a parent and staff book study together last year to try to absorb as much of this book and research linked in it as possible. We are trying to turn the back the tide so to speak, and it feels really difficult at times. But it's worth it. Read this book yourself, suggest it to administrators at your kids schools.
