My sons pediatrician had AI scribe today, my main concern is privacy. Our data privacy laws are not strong enough. Remember 23 and me saying nothing to worry about? 😬

I’m on the tech side of it and it makes me nervous. Thinking about extremely sensitive conversations, docs that don’t review, inherent racism and bias. I know using it is optional and a lot of places require consent from pts, so hopefully I’m just overreacting!

Using an AI tool to take notes during doctor-patient interactions can offer benefits such as improved efficiency, reduced administrative burden for clinicians, and more accurate documentation over time. However, AI may struggle to accurately capture the nuance of human conversation, potentially leading to incomplete or incorrect documentation. Overreliance on technology could result in clinicians missing critical details, and technical failures may disrupt care.

I’ve used Dax for 6 months. Not a 10/10. Good, but it definitely makes mistakes and doesn’t organize the A&P well.

I was so skeptical at first. Then I used it and it blew me away. It was concise yet had all the important info. It’s way more advanced than it thought it would be

As a doctor what do you think about patients using AI to write notes for them during a visit? I know some doctors wouldn’t want to be recorded but would it be different if it was just an AI note scribe taking notes for a patient?

It works well with the exception of pre-charting. I was a scribe but was laid off a few weeks ago which kinda sucks, but I’m glad all physicians have access to it. It’s fast and helpful with subjective notes. I worked in endo and extensively pre-charted and worked a lot with pumps/CGMs so I did more than just the scribing aspect. I feel like hospitals don’t consider that when choosing to get rid of physical scribes. I also get concerned about privacy. Overall, I have a love/hate relationship with it. It works well but has its limitations.

Save 10 minutes now so ai can just replace you in the future once they have enough training data. 10/10
