Bud coming from a first responder we can only do our best. We can’t save everyone. As hard as we try sometimes it just doesn’t work out. This will stick with you for a long long time. Maybe even forever. Do not hesitate to talk about it. Don’t hesitate to reach out. Talk to local first responders. Most of them would be happy to sit down with you. You jumped in when most wouldn’t. Proud of you.

I’ve been a police officer for 11 years. I responded to 2 tractor trailers on fire. The fire was so big I couldn’t get closer than 50 yards. I’ll never forget the feeling that I couldn’t save them. Sometimes there’s nothing we can do. Have him seek counseling.

If you contact your local fire department they have special counselors that are meant to deal with situations like this and they can help put you in touch with the right people

My husband saw a kid die on his motorcycle right in front of him. He came home, sold his motorcycle and didn’t purchase another one for 20 years. I still get nervous every time he leaves the house on it.

Hey just a thought, idk if it would even work, but maybe reach out to your local EMS team. Explain what’s going on with your son. Ask them if they can sit down and just talk to him about this. I genuinely think it may help a lot. They’re the kind of people who really know about this kind of stuff ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹

Had a neighbor come out screaming one night. My hubby and I heard her and took off running to help her. Her baby was limp, pale, and blue. We tried doing CPR, but I could see his eyes glossed over, and I knew. It's been a little over a year and I still cry for that sweet baby and his young mom and dad. They were both teenagers. Baby boy passed from sids, and she came in from work and found him when she went to check on him. Him and dad had went to bed a few hours prior and he was fine. She had to bury her 5 month old on her first Mother's Day. I feel like I failed them for not being able to save him. We tried so hard to.

Did she have family? If it was someone I loved and I knew someone tried to help I would feel so good knowing a stranger felt compelled enough to even attempt saving them

please tell him that he did a lot more than most people would this day and age and he tried so hard and he did his best and I know it's hard but I can say without a doubt that whomever he tried to save is going to be his guardian angels because he took his time out of his day to try to help I really pray and hope that he is okay

I see this turning into his reason to become a first responder 🥺 I work in the medical field and it’s true. You can’t save everyone, and those losses to stick with you
