Ok, so maybe there are a few more than 5 here 😂 Those blueprints are signed by H. Goff, which stands for Harper Goff, the Imagineer who originally designed the attraction in the early 1950s. Harper also did the set design for the movie Casablanca, and you can currently find his tribute window facing the attraction in Adventureland. His reasoning for using the African queen as his inspiration for the Jungle Cruise was, “I’d seen the African queen, and I liked it.” 😂 The 27-ft 2-ton boats weren’t the first ones to use fiberglass, but it was one of the first extensive uses of the new material for a fleet of boats. “We had the Navy watching us all the time, and when we put the boats in the water, they got permission to come out, and they took pictures of everything. That was really pioneering in those days!” - Harper Goff Only the Congo Queen and Ganges Gal were operating opening day, but there were seven original boats in all, including the Suwannee lady, Amazon Belle, Mekong Maiden, Nile, Princess, and Irawaddy Woman. The addition of a second load/unload entrance was the idea of theme park veteran George Miller who suggesting that loading one side from the front and the other side from the back would increase load/unload speed and therefore increase capacity overall. #junglecruise #disney #disneyland #disneyhistory #disneyfacts #disneysecrets #disneyhistory #disneylandcalifornia #disneynerd #disneyfan #disneyfans #adventureland #disneylandresort #disneylandpark #disneyrides #disneyride #imagineering #disneytiktok #disneytok #themepark #disneytrivia #disneytiktok #disneytok
