booking, what to pack & tips 👇🏼✨🏔️🏠 We spent a week on the Tour du Mont Blanc in France, Switzerland and Italy sleeping in mountain huts, and it was a huge highlight of our whole Europe trip. What I didn’t realize before coming is that you dont need to be hiking hut to hut to sleep in one!! A lot of people come through for a one night trip, they’ll hike in, sleep, and hike out the next day, which is such a cool way to experience the hut system without committing to a long hike. You can even section hike the TMB, or the Alta via 1 or 2 (Dolomites) or plan so many unique trips staying at these!! You get the opportunity to meet other travelers, try local foods, and enjoy some serenity in some of the most beautiful locations in the world. Here are some tips: BOOKING: We booked all of ours 5 months out, but there are a lot of last minute cancellations!! We booked on the montourdumontblanc.com website, which makes it easy to plan routes in between each hut, but many huts also book on their own sites. You can also email for last minute cancellations! WHAT TO BRING: Sleeping bag liner (most require these) Earplugs and eye mask Shower things and packable towel Sandals to change into (usually not allowed to wear hiking shoes inside) Plug converters Cash (some only accept cash!) Clean outfit for the hut THINGS TO KNOW: • let them know about any dietary needs ahead of time via email, and they can usually accommodate • typically they want you to arrive before 6 pm, as dinner is usually at 6:30 or 7. We tried to arrive as early as we could to shower and relax. • you can also buy a packed lunch from the hut for around €10-€15! You can let them know the night before • more expensive doesn’t always mean better!! The cheapest one was one of our favorites :) Huts we stayed in: FRANCE: Gîte d’Alpage Les Ecuries de Charamillon (€58) Refuge de la Balme La Ferme a Piron SWITZERLAND Relias d’arpette Auberge des Glaciers These huts are EVERYWHERE and we have also just stopped at a lot of them for lunch or a coffee on day hikes!! Let me know if you have any questions!! Ft our celiac friend @Kayli King #hikersoftiktok #backpacking #camping #eurosummer
